Level Design Exercise
For my third-person adventure game level designed in Unreal Engine 5, I created an engaging and functional environment from scratch using block mesh tools, geometry brushes, and additive/subtractive shapes. This project involved sticking to a defined creative vision, where I designed and developed three distinct level outlines that effectively guided the player’s progression. Also answering critical design questions related to player interaction and flow. Each outline was carefully crafted to ensure a logical and immersive experience from start to finish.
I incorporated essential gameplay elements such as a valve to prevent backtracking and a gate requiring player interaction. They were strategically placed within the Level Start, Focal Point, and Level End sections to shape player movement and challenge. By focusing on creating balanced progression and a cohesive level layout, I was able to craft a level that communicated it's narrative and gameplay objectives clearly to players. All while maintaining an intuitive environment for exploration and challenge.
