Tile-Based Game

For my tile-based game project developed in Unreal Engine 5, I conceptualized and implemented a new Speed Boost tile, adding a dynamic mechanic that significantly enhanced player movement and strategic decision-making. This fast-paced element introduced a fresh layer of depth to the gameplay, encouraging players to plan their actions carefully while navigating the level. I also evaluated various existing mechanics and creatively adapted a classmates Breakable tile to introduce time-sensitive challenges. Heightening the sense of urgency even further and motivating the player to think on their feet.

I designed three unique level variations which showcased the interaction between the Speed Boost and Breakable tiles, emphasizing the strategic choices players had to make to succeed. Using Unreal Engine’s Blueprints system, I prototyped and refined these mechanics, ensuring seamless integration into the existing sandbox while maintaining balance and functionality. This project demonstrates my ability to innovate and adapt game mechanics while working within established systems to create engaging, well-balanced gameplay experiences.
